The challenge
Objective
THE MYTHS-
- AI content works- We have been against AI content since the day it was introduced but to prove us right in March 2024, Google penalised more than 50% of the websites using AI content within a few days. Bloggers looking for shortcuts, often populate their blogs with 100s of articles using AI tools and plugins. It not only ends up penalising their website, but also ensures that they waste the precious time they could have used in learning actual content.
- Use of exact match anchor texts
Using your keywords in your backlink anchor texts results in penalising your website, very very fast. It’s not aggressive, it’s stupid.
- Link building = SEO
Link building has taken the most space in SEO conversations in blogging groups and communities, while in 2025 and going forward, Google looks at your content first and if it’s not good, there are no backlinks in the world that can save you.
Good backlinks compliment good content.
- High DR means better authority
People love shortcuts and shortforms everywhere. DA and DR can often be misleading and you should not think of these numbers as a metric for authority of websites.
- Save money and go for group buys
Group buys can disclose your niches and the number of credits you get here are not enough for learning or usage. If you think these will help you save money or rank, it’s a lie/myth.
- Get a link from Huffington Post and you will rank
Link sellers send huge lists of websites that are public everywhere claiming to rank your website with these links. In 2025, relevant websites with rising traffic work better than these overhyped sites.
- Stay away from high competitive keywords, high search volume keywords
Profits exist side-by-side with the competition. Higher search volume simply means that there are real profits to be made. Don’t be too scared.
- SEO is crowded
With the ongoing rumors that SEO is dead and it’s very difficult, 90% of the people have left it and it’s become less competitive at the top.
- Most niches are dead
AI overviews are only active in how-to niches and there are tons of keywords where people are looking for a solution, product, tool, or an actual advice where you can make a lot of money.
- I can never enter SEO if I don’t have an investment
I started with no investment, by going to cyber cafes and actually writing articles for ₹100/piece. That’s how I started my SEO journey. Don’t be scared just because you don’t have investments. The online world is big and you can literally sell any kind of skill to make your own investment for your website. Someone is rich enough to pay for your skill only because it will save them their previous 30 minutes.
- SEMRush is a good tool for SEO research (just because it has a group buy)
The team at SEMRush definitely tries hard at social media, but they are not putting the same kind of effort into building their tool. Their affiliate program is actually better than their real tool.
- Somebody else can make links for you
Until you are hiring a genuine expert who has their own ranking websites and won’t be cheap.
The Challenge-
Avoiding common SEO pitfalls and steering clear of costly mistakes.
As a beginner, the challenge is to distinguish SEOs from a crowd of “quick rich scheme” seekers. The right mentors can put you years ahead in your SEO career; the wrong ones can push you decades behind.
